Event History

Ingleborough was first run as a club event in 1989 by Craven CC, being won in 1:11 by Ian Scriven (Pendle Forest CC), Martin Brass (Craven CC), was second with 1:15.

Scott O’Brian (Manchester Wheelers) won the inaugural 1990 open event in 1:03:54, with Gethin Butler (Norwood Paragon CC) second in 1:6:13. First for Pendle Forest that year was Graham Waddington with 1:10:13. Craven CC dedicated much effort to creating the race promotional material, some images can be seen here. Pendle Forest took over in 1994, some of the original material is here.

The course, renowned for its brutal hill climb start, cuts across disciplines, neither pure time trial, nor pure hill climb, it has elements of both and also demands excellent handing skills. It has challenged the best. Former winners include Gethin Butler, Hugh Carthy, Tejvan Pettinger and course record holder (59:21) James Gullen.

Podium positions for previous events are collated on our results history page.
