Three Time Trial Award

To celebrate this special year for Yorkshire Dales time trials, Pendle Forest and North Lancashire Road Club have awarded medals to those who took part in all three events. Though far from perfect, we have been fortunate with the weather this year. For Ingleborough there was very little wind but the chilly morning made it uncomfortable for the early starters. The Dales avoided the appaling conditions seen in 2024 with Storm Kathleen. Though windy, with a notably tough section from Sedbergh to Hawes, riders were rewarded with a tailwind finish making the final ten miles from Hewby Head a delight. In contrast the National had a strong headwind finish making the final five miles from Ribblehead a grovel for many riders.

Well done to all. 

Finally, we have a special award for Pendle Forest’s Matt Kayley. Recording DNF (mechanicals) for both Ingleborough and the Dales, Matt was on the cusp of greatness, within clutching distance of equalling the fabled PF rider Dudley ‘Dud’ Bronze and his infamous 4 minute victory in the Circuit of Clapham. It was not to be, Matt failed to record DNF in the National, crossing the line in 1:16:27. Nonethless, a medal is well-deserved.
