Most time trial events now have two categories: ‘time trial bike’ and ‘road bike’. The requirements for the categories are given in CTT Regulation 15.
The images below show the handlebar requirements specific to the road bike category. Compliance with this and other requirements will be checked at the start of the 2025 National Road Bike Championship.

The minimum width of the bars measured outer to outer is 350mm.
The minimum distance between brake hoods is 250mm.
The maximum distance from the rear of the handlebar to the front on the brake hood is 240mm.
The bike in the picture just passes the minimum overall width requirement and easily passes the reach and distance between brake hood requirements.
